Arsene Wenger acusa Joey Barton de chivato

Arsène Wenger accused Joey Barton of pretending to be hurt in order to get Gervinho sent off in Saturday’s bad-tempered 0-0 draw with Newcastle at St James’ Park.
Gervinho, bought for £11 million from Lille this summer, was sent off for slapping Barton after the Newcastle player had dragged him up from the turf by his shirt, furious at what he saw as the Ivorian’s attempt to win a penalty by diving.
“I don’t want to comment too much because it brings no credit to the Premier League but you know as well as I know that he has not been hit hard enough to lie down for two minutes,” he said. Barton was booked for his part in the incident but Wenger felt that if his player had been sent off then referee Peter Walton should have also dismissed Barton. “I think I saw more of it than the referee,” Wenger said. “It is either two reds or two yellows. The referee did not see it. 100 per cent because I saw him. I feel we have been very harshly punished today. We do not provoke we try to play. Maybe sometimes we overreact. If there is one area we need to improve it is that.”
